Just some values and attempts at flowers. This is from the first class.
This stream scene was from the cover of a magazine called "Ozark Mountains". I couldn't do all the leaves justice, but the overall shapes and much of the values I did get.
Excellent! Sorry that I haven't posted anything in response yet, but rest assured I have a Grue sketch that's coming together very soon. :)
It looks to me, and I'm not sure if I could be considered a professional on this yet or not, that you still have quite a heavy hand and need to loosen up your grip on the pencil a bit and try to let things flow a little more. However, listen to your art teacher first and foremost, but I'd be very curious if my advice helps in any way.
Several years ago, in pre-Architecture studio, we spent a couple of days just drawing straight lines down a large sheet of newsprint paper. I'm not kidding, STRAIGHT. LINES.
We are learning "values" and she wanted to see some heavy strokes and values, if that's what you mean? I was using some pretty soft pencils there at the end.
Ack, you are going to make my Grue sketch look t3h l4me. *chuckle*
